Edge Aerospace Announces ESA Contract for Orbital Data Centers, First In-Orbit Mission Completion, and U.S. Expansion

Edge Aerospace today announced a series of milestones marking its continued expansion across Europe and North America, including a recent contract award from the European Space Agency (ESA) under the Advanced Concepts Program to develop an architecture and use-case roadmap for orbital data centers. This month, the company also successfully completed its first in-orbit demonstration mission and finalized its incorporation effort in the U.S. to open its first international subsidiary.

Under Phase I of its latest ESA Space Cloud contract, Edge Aerospace will develop an architecture for orbital data centers, advancing next-generation infrastructure designed to support space-based computing and data services in support of ESA’s objectives to enhance European space autonomy, sustainability, and technological capabilities. The work will include defining use cases for prospective orbital data center users and providers, establishing the technical architecture, and developing a technology roadmap from current capabilities to future operational systems.

This award adds to Edge Aerospace’s growing portfolio of institutional and defense work, which currently includes four other active contracts spanning ESA, European Defence Fund (EDF), Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), and the Luxembourg Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Edge Aerospace also recently completed its first flight mission, marking the company’s first in-orbit demonstration and an important step in validating its ability to bring advanced on-board networking and data processing systems into operational environments.

“We are honored by the momentum Edge Aerospace has achieved across multiple contracts with leading European institutions and government customers,” said Jaroslaw Jaworski, CEO. “This progress reflects the strength of our team, whose expertise has positioned us to rapidly secure these early opportunities. We look forward to continuing to deliver high-quality solutions to our government partners and are proud to contribute to Europe’s technical leadership in the development of orbital data centers.”

In parallel with its European momentum, Edge Aerospace is expanding into the United States with a new facility this summer. Opening of the site is planned for early June 2026, establishing a strategic presence in a key U.S. aerospace hub and supporting the company’s continued growth across transatlantic markets.

“These milestones reflect the breadth of Edge Aerospace’s progress across commercial, civil, and defense-focused programs, as well as the continued expansion of our international customer base,” said Harrison Pitman, U.S. Operations Lead. “Our new U.S. facility will enhance our ability to serve our emerging customer base in the United States while supporting the company’s long-term growth in this important market.”

Edge Aerospace’s recent developments highlight the company’s accelerating role in shaping resilient space infrastructure, supporting sovereign capabilities, and delivering advanced mission architectures for customers in Europe and beyond.
