SWISSto12 Accelerates Global Momentum as Europe Races to Strengthen Satellite Sovereignty
SWISSto12, one of the world’s fastest-growing aerospace companies and a leading manufacturer of advanced satellite systems and radio-frequency (RF) products, today announced its 2025 success marked by a series of significant milestones. These advances underscore the company’s rapid global growth and leadership in agile satellite communication systems and RF solutions. The company’s portfolio supports accessibility to satellite communications for commercial users and nations worldwide wanting to develop sovereign capabilities.
2025 began with a clear vote of confidence from the industry in SWISSto12’s vision and capabilities. At SATELLITE 2025 in Washington D.C., CEO Dr. Emile de Rijk was honored as Satellite Executive of the Year, a testament to the company’s ability to execute, innovate, and impact the global space economy. This recognition was validated by a series of significant achievements during the year.
HummingSat and RF Portfolio Expansion
Throughout 2025, the company accelerated product innovation and customer adoption in its satellite and RF product portfolios.
The design and construction of the first four HummingSat geostationary (GEO) satellites ordered by anchor customers SES (through the IS-45 program) and Viasat (through the I-8 program) progressed significantly in 2025. In early 2026, both programs are preparing for Critical Design Review (CDR), along with the start of first flight hardware assembly, integration and testing for IS-45.
In Q1 2025, SWISSto12’s HummingSat, was selected to deliver the APAC region’s first GEO Satellite-to-Device platform, NEASTAR-1 with Astrum Mobile. The satellite will deliver rich media, datacasting, IoT connectivity, mass notification, and emergency alert services to the region. The satellite rapidly cleared the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) stage in September, highlighting the maturity of the HummingSat platform.
The company has made material progress on its roadmap for electronically steered antennas for upcoming HummingSat missions, and for integration in SATCOM terminals and third-party satellites in LEO, MEO, and GEO. Further validating this progress, SWISSto12 successfully demonstrated its phased array technology in live environments.
The company also launched its innovative HummingLink-SOTP portable user terminal for continuous geostationary connectivity; an ultra-lightweight, high-performance user terminal built on proprietary 3D-printed RF technologies that is available across Ka-, Ku-, and X-bands.
Global Growth and Key Appointments
Over the past year, SWISSto12 has also expanded its global footprint with the opening of a new facility in Madrid, Spain, announced this September, focused on accelerating the development of the company’s satellite systems and user terminals. The site places the company in direct proximity to key industrial partners, customers, and talent, complementing the company’s other facilities across Europe and the United States.
In the U.S., SWISSto12 unveiled upgraded mission control capabilities at its Georgia Command and Control Center to support the first launches of its HummingSat GEO SmallSats in 2027.The Georgia Center provides digital twin testing environments and next-generation electric orbit-raising support, which will enable customers to maintain secure, independent operational control over their missions.
The company’s revenue grew over 40% in 2025, while the workforce increased by 38%, with key hires across the U.S. and Europe. To support SWISSto12’s global growth, the company has expanded its leadership team with key appointments, including:
Steve Collar, former CEO of SES, was named Chairman of the Board, bringing decades of experience in satellite manufacturing, operations and scaling global businesses.
Fredrik Gustavsson, a seasoned SATCOM executive, joined the company as Chief Financial & Strategy Officer to lead capital planning and strategic execution.
Commenting on the company’s growth in 2025, Emile de Rijk, CEO and co-founder of SWISSto12 said, “By expanding our teams and product innovations worldwide, we are empowering our customers with agile satellite solutions and meeting the increasing demand for satellite sovereignty. SWISSto12’s innovations in GEO small satellites, RF technologies, and ground systems are enabling agile, secure communications that operators, organizations and nation states can rely on, no matter their location. We’re excited to accelerate this momentum in 2026.”
