ALL.SPACE Hydra-4 and NAVSYS PNTaaS: The Nexus of SATCOM and PNT
NAVSYS Corporation and ALL.SPACE successfully demonstrated accurate, seamless tracking of a vehicle's position, navigation, and timing (PNT) in a fully GNSS-denied environment during the DoW’s emerging technologies test, Arcane Thunder1. NAVSYS’s PNT-as-a-Service (PNTaaS) solution, paired with ALL.SPACE’s Hydra terminal, showcased how a hybrid SATCOM/PNT architecture can deliver reliable connectivity and continuous alternative-PNT from a single platform, providing a “turn-key” user solution.
“Working together, NAVSYS and ALL.SPACE rapidly deployed a field-ready alternative-PNT and communications solution, which we were pleased to demonstrate under representative operational conditions at the Arcane Thunder live GPS jamming event,” said Dr. Alison Brown, CEO of NAVSYS Corporation.
The Hydra terminal maintained continuous, high-performance communications on the move without operational tradeoffs, while NAVSYS’s equipment collected Signals of Opportunity (SoOP) data to support alternative PNT processing. Using NAVSYS’s PNT-as-a-Service (PNTaaS) cloud-based services and signal processing algorithms, it calculated Position and Timing in this fully GNSS-denied exercise. Looking ahead, Hydra's integrated edge-compute environment is designed to host advanced software capabilities at the tactical edge, including solutions such as NAVSYS's PNTaaS, a software-based solution that can be incorporated into a variety of host platforms.
“Arcane Thunder demonstrated the strength of combining NAVSYS’s PNTaaS with the ALL.SPACE platform to deliver resilient communications and assured PNT,” said John-Paul Szczepanik, Chief Technology Officer of ALL.SPACE. “Our joint approach showed how Signals of Opportunity can be collected, processed, and exploited without affecting connectivity, reinforcing the value of an integrated, software-defined architecture. Working with NAVSYS, we are enabling a unified capability that is rapidly deployable, upgradable, and adaptable to mission needs.”
The effort by both companies to scale alternative-PNT coverage, integrate additional sensing sources, and deliver increasingly flexible, field-ready solutions optimized for current and emerging mission requirements is crucial to extending mission effectiveness and operational resilience for PNT across future defense environments. This evolution toward an integrated, software-enabled architecture highlights how capabilities such as NAVSYS’s PNTaaS and the ALL.SPACE Hydra can align with different frameworks to deliver resilient communications and alternative-PNT on a single platform.
“We are looking forward to continuing to work with ALL.SPACE as we expand our PNTaaS service into Europe to cover areas where extensive GNSS denial is already active,” stated Dr. Alison Brown. “We see the field ready hybrid SATCOM Hydra/PNTaaS product as the only near-term, fieldable solution to provide backup PNT capability in a completely L-band-denied environment by leveraging existing Ku- and Ka-band SATCOM signals for PNT.”
