Galaxia Takes Next Step in Earth Observation with purchase of Simera Sense Hyperspectral Imager
European optical payload provider Simera Sense today announced that Canadian space technology company Galaxia has acquired a HyperScape100 hyperspectral imaging payload, expanding its Earth observation capabilities and enabling future hyperspectral imaging missions for commercial, civil, and defence customers.
The collaboration reflects the continued growth of Canada's small satellite leader and increasing demand for advanced Earth observation capabilities developed through international partnerships.
The acquisition marks an important step in Galaxia's investment in advanced satellite technologies. By adding hyperspectral imaging to its portfolio, Galaxia will be able to support a broader range of Earth observation applications, providing its customers with access to richer spectral data for more informed decision-making across environmental monitoring, agriculture, natural resource management, maritime awareness, and defence applications.
The HyperScape100 is Simera Sense's compact hyperspectral imager designed specifically for the size, weight and power constraints of modern small satellites.
Delivering 32 user-selectable spectral bands from a library of 400 available bands, the payload enables mission operators to optimise spectral configurations for specific applications and adapt them throughout the mission lifetime.

Unlike conventional multispectral systems, hyperspectral imaging captures detailed spectral information across hundreds of narrow wavelength bands, allowing users to identify materials and detect subtle changes that are invisible to traditional imaging systems.
This enables advanced applications including vegetation health assessment, mineral exploration, environmental monitoring, pollution detection, water quality analysis, and defence intelligence.
The collaboration highlights the growing ties between the European and Canadian space sectors, bringing together Simera Sense's flight-proven optical payload technology with Galaxia's next-generation intelligent satellite platforms.
