Leaf Space Extends its Global Network with First Ground Station in Canada’s Spaceport Nova Scotia

Leaf Space, a global leader in Ground Segment-as-a-Service, today announced the completion of its first ground station in Canada, built in partnership with Maritime Launch Services Inc. (MLS) (CBOE: MAXQ, OTCQB: MAXQF) at Spaceport Nova Scotia, near Canso, Nova Scotia.

As the first ground station operator at Space Nova Scotia, Leaf Space’s newest ground station will support S- and X-band, high-speed data download for satellite operators worldwide, through efficient and mission-critical communication with their space assets from a strategic gateway on Canada’s Atlantic coast.

The antenna, radome and supporting electronics rack have been installed and activated on site, with the station now available for commercial satellite traffic, following regulatory clearance from Canadian authorities.

The development comes at a pivotal moment for Canada’s space sector. In March 2026, the Government of Canada designated Spaceport Nova Scotia as the country’s sovereign launch site and announced its intention to become a full member of NATO’s Starlift initiative, an alliance-wide effort to provide member states with resilient launch capacity that does not depend on any single country.

Leaf Space’s ground station strengthens that sovereign capability by providing critical ground segment infrastructure. As a European ground station provider serving organizations headquartered in NATO member states and supporting EU missions, Leaf Space offers satellite operators launching from Canso access to a ground network aligned with Canada’s push for sovereign access to space.

The Canadian site expands Leaf Space’s fully owned and operated global network of ground stations, all available to customers through the company’s all-inclusive-per-minute pricing model.

The announcement builds on growing demands for Leaf Space’s services from satellite operators. It follows its announcement of TreeNet which delivers an “always-on” network architecture that eliminates the connectivity bottlenecks of modern constellations, building towards its wider objective of the ‘Internet for Space’, a distributed network exchanging data across orbits, continuously and autonomously.
